[638] For whomever the life faculty (jīvitindriya) does not arise, does the wisdom faculty (paññindriya) not arise for him?
Yes.
Or rather, for whomever the wisdom faculty does not arise, does the life faculty not arise for him?
For those dissociated from knowledge (ñāṇa-vippayutta) who are being reborn, and, in the course of existence (pavatti), at the moment of arising of a mind (citta) dissociated from knowledge, the wisdom faculty does not arise for them, but it is not the case that the life faculty does not arise for them. For all who are passing away, and, in the course of existence, at the moment of dissolution of mind, the wisdom faculty does not arise for them and the life faculty does not arise.
