[637] "For whomever the life faculty (jīvitindriya) does not arise, does the faith faculty (saddhindriya) not arise for that one?"

"Or rather, for whomever the faith faculty does not arise, does the life faculty not arise for that one?"
"For rootless (ahetuka) beings as they are being reborn, and, in the course of existence (pavatta), at the moment of arising of a mind (citta) dissociated from faith — for them the faith faculty does not arise, yet it is not the case that the life faculty does not arise for them. For all beings as they are passing away, and, in the course of existence, at the moment of dissolution of mind — for them the faith faculty does not arise and the life faculty does not arise."
