[647] "For whom the faith faculty (saddhindriya) does not arise, does the wisdom faculty (paññindriya) not arise for that one?"
"Yes."
"Or rather, for whom the wisdom faculty does not arise, does the faith faculty not arise for that one?"
"For those dissociated from knowledge (ñāṇa) yet with root-cause (sahetuka) who are being reborn, and, in the course of existence (pavatte), at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of a mind (citta) dissociated from knowledge and associated with faith — for them the wisdom faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that the faith faculty does not arise for them. For all at the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of mind, at the moment of arising of a mind dissociated from knowledge and dissociated from faith, for those attained to cessation (nirodha-samāpanna), and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta) — for them both the wisdom faculty does not arise and the faith faculty does not arise."
