Cakkhundarīya

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 843

[843] For whomever the eye faculty (cakkhundriya) will arise, will the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arise for that one? Those who, possessed of eyes, having been reborn with joy (somanassa), will attain final Nibbāna — for them the eye faculty will arise, but the equanimity faculty will not arise for them. For the others, both the eye faculty will arise and the equanimity faculty will arise. Or rather, for whomever the equanimity faculty will arise, will the eye faculty arise for that one? Those who, having been reborn in the formless [realm] (arūpa), will attain final Nibbāna — for them the equanimity faculty will arise, but the eye faculty will not arise for them. For the others, both the equanimity faculty will arise and the eye faculty will arise.
