Cakkhundarīya

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 992

[992] For whomever, wherever, the nose faculty (ghānindriya) will not arise, will the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) not arise for that one there? For beings of the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and of the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), the nose faculty will not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the equanimity faculty will not arise for them there. For beings in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta), both the nose faculty will not arise for them there and the equanimity faculty will not arise. Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty will not arise, will the nose faculty not arise for that one there? For those possessing a nose (saghānaka) who, having been reborn with joy (somanassa), will attain final Nibbāna, the equanimity faculty will not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the nose faculty will not arise for them there. For beings in their final existence and for non-percipient beings, both the equanimity faculty will not arise for them there and the nose faculty will not arise.
