[1499] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is not clung to and not favorable to clinging (anupādinna-anupādāniya) is a condition, by way of immediacy condition (anantara-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is clung to and favorable to clinging (upādinnupādāniya): fruition (phala) is a condition, by way of immediacy condition, for emergence (vuṭṭhāna).
A phenomenon that is clung to and favorable to clinging is a condition, by way of contiguity condition (samanantara-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is clung to and favorable to clinging. This is similar to the immediacy condition.
