[556] An indeterminate phenomenon (abyākata dhamma) is a condition for an indeterminate phenomenon by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya): object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta) and base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: An Arahant contemplates with insight the eye as impermanent, as suffering (dukkha), as non-self; the ear … the nose, the tongue, the body, forms (rūpa), sounds, odours, tastes, tangibles … he contemplates with insight the base (vatthu) as impermanent, as suffering, as non-self. He sees a form with the divine eye; he hears a sound with the divine ear element (sota-dhātu). The form base (rūpāyatana) is a condition for eye-consciousness (cakkhu-viññāṇa) by prenascence condition; the sound base is a condition for ear-consciousness, the odour base for nose-consciousness, the taste base for tongue-consciousness, the tangible base for body-consciousness, by prenascence condition.
Base-prenascence: The eye base is a condition for eye-consciousness by prenascence condition; the ear base is a condition for ear-consciousness, the nose base for nose-consciousness, the tongue base for tongue-consciousness, the body base for body-consciousness, by prenascence condition; the base is a condition for the resultant-indeterminate and functional-indeterminate aggregates (khandha) by prenascence condition.
