[13] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) without thought-conception and with only discursive thought (avitakka-vicāramatta) and on a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought (avitakka-avicāra), there arise a phenomenon with thought-conception and with discursive thought (savitakka-savicāra) and a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought, due to root condition (hetu-paccaya):
At the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), dependent on thought-conception (vitakka) and the base (vatthu), the aggregates (khandhā) with thought-conception and with discursive thought arise; dependent on thought-conception and the primary elements (mahābhūta), kamma-born materiality (kaṭattārūpa) arises.
Dependent on a phenomenon without thought-conception and with only discursive thought and on a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought, there arise a phenomenon without thought-conception and with only discursive thought and a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought, due to root condition:
Dependent on one aggregate without thought-conception and with only discursive thought and on discursive thought (vicāra), three aggregates and mind-originated materiality (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) arise; dependent on two aggregates and discursive thought, two aggregates and mind-originated materiality arise.
At the moment of rebirth-linking, dependent on one aggregate without thought-conception and with only discursive thought and on discursive thought, three aggregates and kamma-born materiality arise; dependent on two aggregates and discursive thought, two aggregates and kamma-born materiality arise.
