[151] A phenomenon (dhamma) with thought and with examination (savitakkasavicāra) is a condition for a phenomenon without thought, with examination only (avitakkavicāramatta), by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya): object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati), conascence-predominance (sahajātādhipati).
Object-predominance: Having given a gift (dāna), having undertaken virtue (sīla), having performed the uposatha observance, one reviews that, esteeming it; esteeming it, thought (vitakka) arises. Esteeming them, one reviews [deeds] formerly well practised. Having emerged from a jhāna with thought and examination … having emerged from the path (magga) … having emerged from fruition (phala), they review the fruition, esteeming it; esteeming it, thought arises. Esteeming the aggregates (khandhā) with thought and examination, one relishes and delights in them; esteeming that, thought arises.
Conascence-predominance: The predominance accompanied by thought and examination is a condition for thought by predominance condition.
