[169] Phenomena (dhammā) that are without thought-conception, with discursive thought only (avitakka-vicāramatta), and phenomena that are without thought-conception and without discursive thought (avitakka-avicāra) are a condition, by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya), for a phenomenon accompanied by thought-conception and discursive thought (savitakka-savicāra) and for one without thought-conception, with discursive thought only.
Object predominance (ārammaṇādhipati): having given weight to the aggregates that are without thought-conception, with discursive thought only, and to discursive thought (vicāra), the aggregates accompanied by thought-conception and discursive thought, and thought-conception (vitakka), arise.
