[158] A phenomenon (dhamma) without thought-conception and with mere discursive thought (avitakka-vicāramatta) is a condition, by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya), for a phenomenon with thought-conception and discursive thought (savitakka-savicāra).
Object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati): Having emerged from a jhāna without thought-conception and with mere discursive thought, … from a path (magga) … from a fruition (phala) … one reviews the fruition, esteeming it; through esteeming that, aggregates (khandhā) with thought-conception and discursive thought arise. Esteeming the aggregates without thought-conception and with mere discursive thought, and thought-conception, one relishes and delights in them; through esteeming that, lust (rāga) arises, wrong view (diṭṭhi) arises.
