[157] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is without thought-conception and has mere discursive thought (avitakka-vicāramatta) is a condition for a phenomenon that is without thought-conception and has mere discursive thought by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya): object predominance (ārammaṇādhipati), conascence predominance (sahajātādhipati).
Object predominance: having emerged from a jhāna that is without thought-conception and has mere discursive thought … from a path (magga) … from a fruition (phala), one reviews the fruition, esteeming it; esteeming that, thought-conception (vitakka) arises. Esteeming the aggregates (khandha) that are without thought-conception and have mere discursive thought, and thought-conception, one relishes and delights in them; esteeming that, thought-conception arises.
Conascence predominance: a predominant factor (adhipati) that is without thought-conception and has mere discursive thought is a condition for the associated (sampayuttaka) aggregates by predominance condition.
