[142] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is without thought-conception but with mere discursive thought (avitakka-vicāramatta) and a phenomenon that is without thought-conception and without discursive thought (avitakka-avicāra) are a condition for a phenomenon that is with thought-conception and with discursive thought (savitakka-savicāra) by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya).
Taking as object the aggregates (khandhā) that are without thought-conception but with mere discursive thought, and discursive thought (vicāra), aggregates that are with thought-conception and with discursive thought arise.
