[166] A phenomenon (dhamma) without thought and without examination (avitakka-avicāra) is a condition, by way of predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya), for a phenomenon with thought and with examination (savitakka-savicāra) and for a phenomenon without thought, with examination only (avitakka-vicāramatta).
Object predominance (ārammaṇādhipati): The noble ones (ariyā), having emerged from a jhāna that is without thought and without examination … from a path … from a fruition, review the fruition, esteeming it; esteeming that, aggregates (khandhā) with thought and with examination, and thought (vitakka), arise.
The noble ones review Nibbāna, esteeming it; Nibbāna is a condition, by way of predominance condition, for change-of-lineage (gotrabhū) and cleansing (vodāna) and for thought, for the path with thought and with examination and for thought, and for the fruition with thought and with examination and for thought.
Esteeming the eye … (Abridged.) … the base (vatthu) … esteeming the aggregates that are without thought and without examination, and examination (vicāra), one relishes and delights in them; esteeming that, aggregates with thought and with examination, and thought, arise.
