Paccanīyapaṭṭhāna

[175] A phenomenon (dhamma) accompanied by thought-conception (vitakka) and discursive thought (vicāra) is a condition, by immediacy condition (anantara-paccaya), for a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought. Adverting (āvajjanā) is a condition, by immediacy condition, for the five consciousnesses (viññāṇa). A death consciousness (cuticitta) accompanied by thought-conception and discursive thought is a condition, by immediacy condition, for a rebirth consciousness (upapatticitta) without thought-conception and without discursive thought, and for discursive thought. Aggregates (khandhā) accompanied by thought-conception and discursive thought are a condition for emergence (vuṭṭhāna) without thought-conception and without discursive thought, and for discursive thought; the preliminary work (parikamma) for the second jhāna is a condition, by immediacy condition, for the discursive thought in the second jhāna. The preliminary work for the third jhāna … the preliminary work for the fourth jhāna … the preliminary work for the sphere of the infinity of space (ākāsānañcāyatana) … the preliminary work for the sphere of the infinity of consciousness (viññāṇañcāyatana) … the preliminary work for the sphere of nothingness (ākiñcaññāyatana) … the preliminary work for the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception (nevasaññānāsaññāyatana) … the preliminary work for the divine eye (dibbacakkhu) … the preliminary work for the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu) … the preliminary work for the knowledge (ñāṇa) of supernormal powers (iddhividhañāṇa) … the preliminary work for the knowledge penetrating the minds of others (cetopariyañāṇa), the preliminary work for the knowledge of the reminiscence of past lives (pubbenivāsānussatiñāṇa), for the knowledge of faring according to kamma (yathākammūpagañāṇa), for the knowledge of the future (anāgataṃsañāṇa) … Change-of-lineage (gotrabhū) is a condition for the path (magga) without thought-conception and without discursive thought, and for discursive thought; cleansing (vodāna) is a condition for the path without thought-conception and without discursive thought, and for discursive thought; conformity (anuloma) is a condition, by immediacy condition, for fruition attainment (phalasamāpatti) without thought-conception and without discursive thought, and for discursive thought.
