[184] A phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought (avitakka-avicāra dhamma) is a condition, by immediacy condition (anantara-paccaya), for a phenomenon with thought-conception and discursive thought (savitakka-savicāra dhamma).
Death consciousness (cuti-citta) that is without thought-conception and without discursive thought, and discursive thought (vicāra), are a condition, by immediacy condition, for rebirth consciousness (upapatti-citta) that is with thought-conception and discursive thought.
The life-continuum (bhavaṅga) that is without thought-conception and without discursive thought, and discursive thought, are a condition, by immediacy condition, for adverting (āvajjana).
Aggregates (khandhā) that are without thought-conception and without discursive thought, and discursive thought, are a condition, by immediacy condition, for emergence (vuṭṭhāna) that is with thought-conception and discursive thought.
For one emerging from cessation (nirodha), the sphere of neither-perception-nor-non-perception (nevasaññānāsaññāyatana) is a condition, by immediacy condition, for the attainment of fruition (phala-samāpatti) that is with thought-conception and discursive thought.
