[1977] A phenomenon (dhamma) with a future object is a condition, by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya), for a phenomenon with a past object.
One reviews past knowledge (ñāṇa) of supernormal power (iddhividha-ñāṇa) that has a future object; knowledge of the minds of others (cetopariya-ñāṇa) … knowledge of the future (anāgataṃsa-ñāṇa).
Noble ones (ariyā) review abandoned defilements (kilesa) that have a future object; they review suppressed defilements; the [defilements] formerly indulged in …
They see with insight past aggregates (khandhā) with a future object as impermanent …; they relish them, they delight in them. On account of that, lust (rāga) with a past object arises; grief (domanassa) arises.
Past aggregates with a future object are a condition, by object condition, for knowledge of the minds of others, for knowledge of the recollection of past lives (pubbenivāsānussati-ñāṇa), for knowledge of beings faring according to their kamma (yathākammūpaga-ñāṇa), and for adverting (āvajjana).
