[2090] An internal phenomenon (ajjhatto dhammo) is a condition (paccaya) for an external phenomenon (bahiddhā dhammo) by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya).
Object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta): another [person contemplates] the internal eye … the [heart-]base (vatthu) as impermanent (aniccato) … grief (domanassa) arises. He sees a form with the divine eye (dibbacakkhu); he hears a sound with the divine ear-element (dibbā sotadhātu). The internal form base (rūpāyatana) is a condition for external eye-consciousness (cakkhu-viññāṇa), [and] the internal tangible base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) for external body-consciousness (kāya-viññāṇa), by prenascence condition.
