[2091] An external phenomenon (bahiddhā dhamma) is a condition for an external phenomenon by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya): object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta), base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: another person [contemplates] the external eye … the base (vatthu) as impermanent …; one sees form with the divine eye (dibbacakkhu), hears sound with the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu). The external form base (rūpāyatana) [is a condition] for external eye-consciousness; the external tangible-object base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) [is a condition] for external body-consciousness.
Base-prenascence: the external eye base (cakkhāyatana) … the body base (kāyāyatana) … the base is a condition for the external aggregates (khandhā) by prenascence condition.
