[22] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) without applied thought and without sustained thought (avitakka-avicāra), a phenomenon without applied thought and without sustained thought arises by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya):
Dependent on one aggregate (khandha) without applied thought and without sustained thought, three aggregates arise; dependent on two aggregates, two aggregates arise.
At the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), dependent on one aggregate without applied thought and without sustained thought, three aggregates arise; dependent on two aggregates, two aggregates arise.
At the moment of rebirth-linking, dependent on the base (vatthu), the aggregates arise; dependent on the base, sustained thought (vicāra) arises.
Dependent on a phenomenon without applied thought and without sustained thought, a phenomenon with applied thought and sustained thought (savitakka-savicāra) arises by object condition:
At the moment of rebirth-linking, dependent on the base, aggregates with applied thought and sustained thought arise.
Dependent on a phenomenon without applied thought and without sustained thought, a phenomenon without applied thought and with sustained thought only (avitakka-vicāramatta) arises by object condition:
Dependent on sustained thought, aggregates without applied thought and with sustained thought only arise.
