[261] A phenomenon (dhamma) without thought-conception and without discursive thought (avitakka-avicāra) is a condition, by dependence condition (nissaya-paccaya), for a phenomenon without thought-conception, with discursive thought only (avitakka-vicāramatta), and for a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought.
Discursive thought (vicāra) is a condition for the aggregates (khandhā) that are without thought-conception, with discursive thought only, and for forms originated by mind (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa); the base (vatthu) is a condition, by dependence condition, for the aggregates that are without thought-conception, with discursive thought only, and for discursive thought.
