[53] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) without thought-conception and without discursive thought (avitakka-avicāra), a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought arises by not-root condition (na-hetupaccayā): Dependent on one rootless (ahetuka) aggregate (khandha) without thought-conception and without discursive thought, three aggregates arise; dependent on three aggregates, one aggregate; dependent on two aggregates, two aggregates; dependent on one primary element (mahābhūta), three primary elements; dependent on the primary elements, mind-originated form (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) and kamma-produced form (kaṭattā-rūpa) that is derived form (upādā-rūpa); external … nutriment-originated … temperature-originated … For the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā): dependent on one primary element … dependent on the primary elements, kamma-produced form that is derived form arises. Dependent on a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought, a phenomenon with thought-conception and with discursive thought (savitakka-savicāra) arises by not-root condition: At the moment of rootless rebirth-linking (ahetuka-paṭisandhi), dependent on the base (vatthu), aggregates with thought-conception and with discursive thought arise. Dependent on a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought, a phenomenon without thought-conception, with mere discursive thought (avitakka-vicāramatta) arises by not-root condition: At the moment of rootless rebirth-linking, dependent on the base, thought-conception (vitakka) arises.
