[713] A phenomenon (dhamma) to be abandoned by development (bhāvanā) is a condition for a phenomenon to be abandoned neither by seeing (dassana) nor by development, by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya): proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya) and natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya).
Natural decisive-support: In dependence on lust (rāga) that is to be abandoned by development, one gives a gift (dāna) … produces an attainment (samāpatti). In dependence on hatred (dosa) that is to be abandoned by development … delusion (moha) … conceit (māna) … longing (patthanā), one gives a gift … produces an attainment. Lust that is to be abandoned by development … hatred, delusion, conceit … longing is a condition for faith (saddhā), for the attainment of fruition (phalasamāpatti), by decisive-support condition.
