[716] A phenomenon (dhamma) to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development is a condition, by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya), for a phenomenon to be abandoned by development:
Object decisive-support (ārammaṇūpanissaya), proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya), natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya).
Natural decisive-support: In dependence on faith (saddhā), one gives rise to conceit (māna); in dependence on virtue (sīla) … wisdom (paññā), bodily pleasure, bodily pain, climate (utu), food (bhojana) … lodging (senāsana), one gives rise to conceit.
Faith … wisdom, bodily pleasure, bodily pain, climate, food … lodging is a condition, by decisive-support condition, for lust (rāga) that is to be abandoned by development, for hatred, for delusion, for conceit, for aspiration (patthanā).
