[930] A phenomenon (dhamma) whose roots are to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development (neva-dassanena-na-bhāvanāya-pahātabba-hetuka) is a condition, by way of decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya), for a phenomenon whose roots are to be abandoned by seeing (dassanena-pahātabba-hetuka):
Object decisive-support (ārammaṇūpanissaya), proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya), natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya).
Natural decisive-support: In dependence on faith (saddhā) … one grasps a view (diṭṭhi); in dependence on virtue (sīla) … wisdom (paññā), bodily pleasure, bodily pain, lodging (senāsana) … delusion (moha), one kills a living being … causes schism in the Saṅgha.
Faith … lodging … and delusion are a condition, by way of decisive-support condition, for lust (rāga) whose roots are to be abandoned by seeing, for longing (patthanā).
