Abhidhammapiṭaka · Paṭṭhāna (2) · Vol. 41 · Section 89

[89] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) with applied thought and sustained thought (savitakka-savicāra), there arises a phenomenon with applied thought and sustained thought — by way of the not-kamma-result condition (na-vipāka-paccaya). (Abridged.) By way of the not-nutriment condition (na-āhāra-paccaya): external [matter] … temperature-originated [matter] … By way of the not-faculty condition (na-indriya-paccaya): external [matter] … nutriment-originated [matter] … temperature-originated [matter] … for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta), dependent on the primary elements (mahābhūta), the material life-faculty (rūpa-jīvitindriya) [arises]. By way of the not-absorption condition (na-jhāna-paccaya): [dependent on] one aggregate accompanied by the fivefold consciousness … external [matter] … nutriment-originated [matter] … temperature-originated [matter] … for non-percipient beings … . (In the section rooted in the not-repetition condition (na-āsevana-paccaya), [the term] "without applied thought, with sustained thought only" (avitakka-vicāramatta), where it goes together with kamma-result (vipāka), should be treated in the same way as [under] the not-prenascence condition (na-purejāta-paccaya); and where "without applied thought, with sustained thought only" goes with "without applied thought, with sustained thought only," the kamma-result should be shown.) … By way of the not-path condition (na-magga-paccaya), by way of the not-association condition (na-sampayutta-paccaya) … .
