[57] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) with thought-conception (vitakka) and discursive thought (vicāra) and on a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought, there arises a phenomenon with thought-conception and discursive thought, by not-root condition (na-hetupaccaya): at the moment of rootless rebirth-linking (ahetuka-paṭisandhikkhaṇa), dependent on one aggregate (khandha) with thought-conception and discursive thought and on the base (vatthu), three aggregates [arise]; dependent on two aggregates and on the base, two aggregates [arise].
Dependent on a phenomenon with thought-conception and discursive thought and on a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought, there arises a phenomenon without thought-conception, with discursive thought only, by not-root condition: at the moment of rootless rebirth-linking, dependent on the aggregates with thought-conception and discursive thought and on the base, thought-conception [arises].
Dependent on a phenomenon with thought-conception and discursive thought and on a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought, there arises a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought, by not-root condition: dependent on the rootless (ahetuka) aggregates with thought-conception and discursive thought and on the primary elements (mahābhūta), mind-originated form (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) [arises]; at the moment of rootless rebirth-linking, dependent on the aggregates with thought-conception and discursive thought and on the primary elements, kamma-born form (kaṭattā-rūpa) [arises].
