[10] Dependent on a phenomenon with thought and examination (savitakka-savicāra) and a phenomenon without thought and without examination (avitakka-avicāra), there arise phenomena (dhammā) with thought and examination and phenomena without thought and without examination, by root condition (hetu-paccaya): at the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), dependent on one aggregate (khandha) with thought and examination and the base (vatthu), three aggregates arise; dependent on two aggregates and the base, two aggregates arise; dependent on the aggregates with thought and examination and the great elements (mahābhūta), kamma-born materiality (kaṭattārūpa) arises.
Dependent on a phenomenon with thought and examination and a phenomenon without thought and without examination, there arise phenomena without thought, with examination only (avitakka-vicāramatta), and phenomena without thought and without examination, by root condition: at the moment of rebirth-linking, dependent on the aggregates with thought and examination and the base, thought (vitakka) arises; dependent on the aggregates with thought and examination and the great elements, kamma-born materiality arises.
