Abhidhammapiṭaka · Paṭṭhāna (2) · Vol. 41 · Section 24

[24] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) with thought-conception and discursive thought (savitakka-savicāra) and on a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought (avitakka-avicāra), there arises a phenomenon with thought-conception and discursive thought, by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya): at the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi), dependent on one aggregate (khandha) with thought-conception and discursive thought and on the base (vatthu), three aggregates arise; dependent on two aggregates and on the base, two aggregates arise. Dependent on a phenomenon with thought-conception and discursive thought and on a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought, there arises a phenomenon without thought-conception and with discursive thought only (avitakka-vicāramatta), by object condition: at the moment of rebirth-linking, dependent on the aggregates with thought-conception and discursive thought and on the base, thought-conception (vitakka) arises.
