[403] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) that is both a taint (āsava) and subject to taints (sāsava), a phenomenon that is both a taint and subject to taints arises by root condition (hetu-paccaya): dependent on the taint of sensual desire (kāmāsava), the taint of views (diṭṭhāsava) and the taint of ignorance (avijjāsava) [arise] — the cycle should be linked (cakkaṃ bandhitabbaṃ); dependent on the taint of existence (bhavāsava), the taint of ignorance [arises] — the cycle should be linked; dependent on the taint of views, the taint of ignorance [arises].
Dependent on a phenomenon that is both a taint and subject to taints, a phenomenon that is subject to taints but not a taint arises by root condition: dependent on the taints, the associated aggregates (khandhā) and form originated by mind (cittasamuṭṭhāna rūpa) [arise].

Dependent on a phenomenon that is subject to taints but not a taint, a phenomenon that is subject to taints but not a taint arises by root condition: dependent on one aggregate that is subject to taints but not a taint, three aggregates and form originated by mind [arise]; dependent on two aggregates … At the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), dependent on the aggregates, the base (vatthu) [arises]; dependent on the base, the aggregates [arise]. Dependent on one great element (mahābhūta) …

Thus the dependent chapter (paṭiccavāra), the conascent chapter (sahajātavāra), the conditioned chapter (paccayavāra),
the supported chapter (nissayavāra), the conjoined chapter (saṃsaṭṭhavāra), and the associated chapter (sampayuttavāra)
are to be done just as [in] the taints dyad (āsavaduka) — without difference.
The Investigation Chapter (Pañhāvāra)
In the investigation chapter, both in the root condition and in the object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya), the supramundane (lokuttara) is not to be included; it is to be done thus: "The trainers (sekhā) review change-of-lineage (gotrabhū); they review cleansing (vodāna)." In the predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya) too, it is to be done having known everything.
