[277] An internal phenomenon (ajjhattiko dhammo) is a condition for an internal phenomenon by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya): object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati): having given weight to the internal aggregates (khandhā) and to mind (citta), mind arises.
An internal phenomenon is a condition for an external (bāhira) phenomenon by predominance condition: object-predominance, conascence-predominance (sahajātādhipati). Object-predominance: having given weight to mind, the external aggregates arise. Conascence-predominance: the predominant mind (cittādhipati) is a condition for the associated (sampayuttaka) aggregates and for mind-originated forms (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) by predominance condition.
The root [question] should be asked. Object-predominance: having given weight to the internal mind, mind and the associated aggregates arise.
An external phenomenon is a condition for an external phenomenon by predominance condition: object-predominance, conascence-predominance. Object-predominance: having given a gift (dāna) … Three [cases]. The two predominances should be applied to all three [cases].
An internal phenomenon and an external phenomenon are a condition for an internal phenomenon by predominance condition: three [cases]. For all three [cases] there is only one predominance.
