[409] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is clinging (upādāna) is a condition for a phenomenon that is clinging by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya): object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati): having given weight to clingings, clingings arise.
Three [cases]; object-predominance only.
A phenomenon that is not clinging (no-upādāna) is a condition for a phenomenon that is not clinging by predominance condition: object-predominance [and] conascence-predominance (sahajātādhipati).
Object-predominance: having given a gift, virtue … the uposatha observance (uposathakamma) … formerly … having emerged from jhāna, having given weight to the jhāna, one reviews it, relishes it … The noble ones, having emerged from the path (magga), having given weight to the path … the fruition (phala) … having given weight to Nibbāna, they review [it]. Nibbāna is a condition for the fruition by predominance condition. The eye … the base (vatthu) … having given weight to the aggregates (khandhā) that are not clinging, one relishes and delights in [them]; having given weight to that, lust (rāga) arises; view (diṭṭhi) …
Conascence-predominance: the predominance that is not clinging is a condition for the associated aggregates and for mind-originated forms (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) by predominance condition.
A phenomenon that is not clinging is a condition for a phenomenon that is clinging by predominance condition: object-predominance [and] conascence-predominance.
