[483] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) that is a defilement (kilesa), a phenomenon that is a defilement arises, not by prenascence condition (na-purejāta-paccaya):
That is, in the immaterial [plane] (arūpe), dependent on greed (lobha), there arise delusion (moha), wrong view (diṭṭhi), dullness (thīna), restlessness (uddhacca), shamelessness (ahirika), and lack of moral dread (anottappa);
dependent on greed, there arise delusion, wrong view, restlessness, shamelessness, and lack of moral dread;
dependent on greed, there arise delusion, conceit (māna), dullness, restlessness, shamelessness, and lack of moral dread;
dependent on greed, there arise delusion, conceit, restlessness, shamelessness, and lack of moral dread;
dependent on greed, there arise delusion, dullness, restlessness, shamelessness, and lack of moral dread;
dependent on greed, there arise delusion, restlessness, shamelessness, and lack of moral dread;
dependent on doubt (vicikicchā), there arise delusion, restlessness, shamelessness, and lack of moral dread;
dependent on restlessness, there arise delusion, shamelessness, and lack of moral dread.
In the immaterial [plane], that which is rooted in hatred (dosa-mūlaka) does not exist.
Dependent on a phenomenon that is a defilement, a phenomenon that is not a defilement arises, not by prenascence condition:
That is, in the immaterial [plane], dependent on the defilements, there arise the associated aggregates (sampayuttakā khandhā); dependent on the defilements, there arises mind-originated form (cittasamuṭṭhānaṃ rūpaṃ).
In this way all nine questions should be done.
