[661] A phenomenon without thought (avitakko dhammo) is a condition for a phenomenon without thought by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya): object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta) and base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: one contemplates with insight the eye (cakkhu) … the base (vatthu) as impermanent (aniccato) …, relishes it, and delights in it; taking that as object, thought (vitakka) arises. With the divine … the tangible-object base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) is a condition for body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa).
Base-prenascence: the eye base (cakkhāyatana) is a condition for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa); the body base (kāyāyatana) …; the base is a condition for the aggregates (khandhā) without thought and for thought by prenascence condition.
A phenomenon without thought is a condition for a phenomenon with thought (savitakko dhammo) by prenascence condition: object-prenascence and base-prenascence.
