[253] Bhikkhus, when a bhikkhu possesses three further qualities, the Saṅgha, if it wishes, may impose upon him an act of suspension (ukkhepanīyakamma) for not making amends for an offence (āpatti): he speaks dispraise of the Buddha; he speaks dispraise of the Dhamma; he speaks dispraise of the Saṅgha. Bhikkhus, when a bhikkhu possesses these three qualities, the Saṅgha, if it wishes, may impose upon him an act of suspension (ukkhepanīyakamma) for not making amends for an offence.
