[257] Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu against whom an act of suspension (ukkhepanīyakamma) has been carried out for not making amends for an offense must conduct himself properly. Herein this is the proper conduct: he should not give the higher ordination; he should not give dependence (nissaya); he should not have a novice attend upon him; he should not accept an agreement to be an exhorter of bhikkhunīs; even if so agreed upon, he should not exhort bhikkhunīs; he should not commit the offense on account of which the act of suspension for not making amends for an offense was carried out by the Saṅgha, nor another of a similar kind, nor one worse than that; he should not criticize the act; he should not criticize those who carried out the act; he should not consent to a regular bhikkhu's (pakatatta) paying homage, rising up for him, salutation with joined palms, acts of proper respect, the bringing of a seat, the bringing of a bed, water for the feet, a footstool, a foot-wiper, the receiving of bowl and robe, or the rubbing of his back while bathing; he should not defame a regular bhikkhu with falling away in virtue; he should not defame him with falling away in conduct; he should not defame him with falling away in view; he should not defame him with falling away in livelihood; he should not set bhikkhus at variance with bhikkhus; he should not wear the emblems of a householder; he should not wear the emblems of members of other sects; he should not associate with members of other sects; he should associate with bhikkhus; he should train in the training of bhikkhus; he should not stay together with a regular bhikkhu in a residence under the same roof; he should not stay in a non-residence under the same roof; he should not stay under the same roof whether in a residence or a non-residence; on seeing a regular bhikkhu he should rise from his seat; he should not assail a regular bhikkhu, whether inside or outside; he should not suspend a regular bhikkhu's Uposatha; he should not suspend his Pavāraṇā; he should not carry out a summons-to-answer (savacanīya) against him; he should not set up a censure (anuvāda) against him; he should not have leave asked of him; he should not reprove him; he should not remind him (of an offense); and he should not embroil bhikkhus with bhikkhus.
