[457] "And thus, bhikkhus, should it be given. That bhikkhu, bhikkhus, having approached the Saṅgha, having arranged his upper robe over one shoulder, having paid homage at the feet of the senior bhikkhus, having sat down on his haunches and raised his joined palms, should say thus:
"'Venerable sirs, I committed two offenses (āpatti) entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha (saṅghādisesa), concealed for two months. It occurred to me: "I have committed two saṅghādisesa offenses, concealed for two months. What if I were to request from the Saṅgha probation (parivāsa) of one month for the two offenses concealed for two months?" So I requested from the Saṅgha probation of one month for the two offenses concealed for two months, and the Saṅgha gave me probation of one month for the two offenses concealed for two months. While I was observing that probation, a sense of conscience (lajjidhamma) came over me: "I have committed two saṅghādisesa offenses, concealed for two months. It occurred to me: 'I have committed two saṅghādisesa offenses, concealed for two months. What if I were to request from the Saṅgha probation of one month for the two offenses concealed for two months?' So I requested from the Saṅgha probation of one month for the two offenses concealed for two months, and the Saṅgha gave me probation of one month for the two offenses concealed for two months.
