[537] Bhikkhus, here again, a bhikkhu, while undergoing probation (parivāsa), commits in the interval several offences (āpatti) entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha (saṅghādisesa). Some offences he knows; some offences he does not know. Those offences that he knows, he conceals; those offences that he does not know, he does not conceal. Having disrobed (vibbhamitvā) and been ordained again, those offences which, knowing them, he formerly concealed — those offences, knowing them afterwards, he does not conceal; and those offences which, not knowing them, he formerly did not conceal — those offences, knowing them afterwards, he does not conceal. That bhikkhu should be drawn back to the beginning (mūlāya paṭikassitabbo), and he should be given a combined probation (samodhānaparivāsa) together with the earlier offence, corresponding to the period the offences were concealed.
