[518] Bhikkhus, here again, a bhikkhu commits several saṅghādisesa offenses: some offenses he knows, some offenses he does not know. Those offenses which he knows, he conceals; those offenses which he does not know, he does not conceal. Having disrobed and been ordained again, those offenses which formerly, having known them, he concealed, those offenses he afterward, having known them, conceals; and those offenses which formerly, not having known them, he did not conceal, those offenses he afterward, having known them, does not conceal. Bhikkhus, having given that bhikkhu probation (parivāsa) for the earlier and the later classes of offenses according as they were concealed, mānatta should be given.
