[539] Bhikkhus, here again, a bhikkhu, while undergoing probation (parivāsa), commits several offenses (āpatti) entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha (saṅghādisesa) in the interim. Some offenses he knows; some offenses he does not know. Those offenses that he knows, he conceals; those offenses that he does not know, he does not conceal. Having disrobed (vibbhamitvā) and being ordained again, those offenses which formerly, knowing them, he concealed — those offenses, afterwards knowing them, he conceals; those offenses which formerly, not knowing them, he did not conceal — those offenses, afterwards knowing them, he does not conceal. That bhikkhu should be sent back to the beginning (mūlāya paṭikassitabbo), and for his offenses, in accordance with the period they were concealed, a combined probation (samodhānaparivāsa) should be given, combining them with the former offense.
