[540] Bhikkhus, here again, a bhikkhu, while undergoing probation (parivāsa), commits in the interim several offences (āpatti) entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha (saṅghādisesa). Some offences he knows; some offences he does not know. Those offences he knows, he conceals; those offences he does not know, he does not conceal. Having disrobed and afterwards received the higher ordination (upasampadā) again, those offences which formerly he knew and concealed, he afterwards, knowing them, conceals; and those offences which formerly, not knowing, he did not conceal, he afterwards, knowing them, conceals. That bhikkhu should be sent back to the beginning (mūlāya paṭikassitabbo), and, for those offences concealed as they were concealed, combined probation (samodhānaparivāsa) should be granted him together with the earlier offence.
