[546] Bhikkhus, here again, a bhikkhu, while undergoing probation (parivāsa), commits in the interim several offenses (āpatti) entailing initial and subsequent meetings of the Saṅgha (saṅghādisesa); regarding some of the offenses he is free from doubt, regarding some of the offenses he is doubtful. Those offenses regarding which he is free from doubt, he conceals; those offenses regarding which he is doubtful, he does not conceal. He disrobes, and having been ordained again, those offenses which formerly, being free from doubt, he concealed, he afterwards, being free from doubt, does not conceal; those offenses which formerly, being doubtful, he did not conceal, he afterwards, being free from doubt, conceals. That bhikkhu should be sent back to the beginning (mūlāya paṭikassitabbo), and he should be given a combined probation (samodhāna-parivāsa), joining [the later offenses] together with the earlier offense, according to the offenses as they were concealed.
