[1049] And how is there [the craving (taṇhā)] "May I too be in this way"?
There is [the craving] "May I too be a khattiya," or "May I too be a brahmin (brāhmaṇa)," or "May I too be a vessa," or "May I too be a sudda," or "May I too be a householder (gahaṭṭha)," or "May I too be one gone forth (pabbajita)," or "May I too be a deva," or "May I too be a human (manussa)," or "May I too be one having form (rūpī)," or "May I too be formless (arūpī)," or "May I too be percipient (saññī)," or "May I too be non-percipient (asaññī)," or "May I too be neither-percipient-nor-non-percipient (nevasaññīnāsaññī)." Thus there is [the craving] "May I too be in this way."
