Suddhasaṅkhāravāra

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (1) · Vol. 38 · Section 1048

[1048] Where the verbal formation (vacīsaṅkhāra) does not arise, does the mental formation (cittasaṅkhāra) not arise there? In the second jhāna, in the third jhāna, and in the fourth jhāna — there the verbal formation does not arise, but it is not the case that the mental formation does not arise there. Among the non-percipient beings (asaññasatta) — there the verbal formation does not arise and the mental formation does not arise. Or rather, where the mental formation does not arise, does the verbal formation not arise there? Yes (āmantā).
