[1101] For whomever, wherever, verbal formation (vacīsaṅkhāra) does not arise, will mental formation (cittasaṅkhāra) not arise for that one there?
For all [beings] at the moment of the dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of mind (citta), [and] at the moment of the arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of mind devoid of thought-conception (vitakka) and discursive thought (vicāra): for them there verbal formation does not arise, but it is not the case that mental formation will not arise for them there. At the moment of the dissolution of the final mind (pacchimacitta) accompanied by thought-conception and discursive thought, for those endowed with the final mind devoid of thought-conception and discursive thought, [and] for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā): for them there verbal formation does not arise and mental formation will not arise.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, mental formation will not arise, does verbal formation not arise for that one there?
At the moment of the arising of the final mind accompanied by thought-conception and discursive thought: for them there mental formation will not arise, but it is not the case that verbal formation does not arise for them there. At the moment of the dissolution of the final mind accompanied by thought-conception and discursive thought, for those endowed with the final mind devoid of thought-conception and discursive thought, [and] for non-percipient beings: for them there mental formation will not arise and verbal formation does not arise.
