[1153] For whomever and wherever bodily formation (kāyasaṅkhāra) does not cease, has mental formation (cittasaṅkhāra) not ceased for that one there?
For all [beings] at the moment of the arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of mind (citta), and at the moment of the dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of mind [occurring] without in-and-out breathing (assāsapassāsā), bodily formation does not cease for them there, but it is not the case that mental formation has not ceased for them there. For those being reborn into the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa) and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), for them there, bodily formation does not cease and mental formation has not ceased.
Or rather, for whomever and wherever mental formation has not ceased, does bodily formation not cease for that one there?
