[1519] For whomever and wherever the latent tendency of repulsion (paṭighānusaya) has been abandoned, has the latent tendency of conceit (mānānusaya) been abandoned for that person there? It should not be said that it is either abandoned or not abandoned. Or, for whomever and wherever the latent tendency of conceit has been abandoned, has the latent tendency of repulsion been abandoned for that person there? It should not be said that it is either abandoned or not abandoned. For whomever and wherever the latent tendency of repulsion has been abandoned, has the latent tendency of views (diṭṭhānusaya) … the latent tendency of doubt (vicikicchānusaya) been abandoned for that person there? Yes. Or, for whomever and wherever the latent tendency of doubt has been abandoned, has the latent tendency of repulsion been abandoned for that person there? For two persons: in the sense-sphere element (kāmadhātu) in the two feelings (vedanā), in the form element (rūpadhātu), and in the formless element (arūpadhātu), their latent tendency of doubt has been abandoned there, but the latent tendency of repulsion should not be said to be either abandoned or not abandoned; for those same persons, in painful feeling, their latent tendency of doubt has been abandoned there, but their latent tendency of repulsion has not been abandoned there. For two persons: in the sense-sphere element in the two feelings, in the form element, and in the formless element, their latent tendency of doubt has been abandoned there, but the latent tendency of repulsion should not be said to be either abandoned or not abandoned; for those same persons, in painful feeling, both their latent tendency of doubt and their latent tendency of repulsion have been abandoned there. For whomever and wherever the latent tendency of repulsion has been abandoned, has the latent tendency of lust for existence (bhavarāgānusaya) been abandoned for that person there? It should not be said that it is either abandoned or not abandoned. Or, for whomever and wherever the latent tendency of lust for existence has been abandoned, has the latent tendency of repulsion been abandoned for that person there? It should not be said that it is either abandoned or not abandoned. For whomever and wherever the latent tendency of repulsion has been abandoned, has the latent tendency of ignorance (avijjānusaya) been abandoned for that person there? For the Non-returner (anāgāmī), in painful feeling, his latent tendency of repulsion has been abandoned there, but his latent tendency of ignorance has not been abandoned there. For the Arahant, in painful feeling, both his latent tendency of repulsion and his latent tendency of ignorance have been abandoned there. Or, for whomever and wherever the latent tendency of ignorance has been abandoned, has the latent tendency of repulsion been abandoned for that person there? For the Arahant: in the sense-sphere element in the two feelings, in the form element, and in the formless element, his latent tendency of ignorance has been abandoned there, but the latent tendency of repulsion should not be said to be either abandoned or not abandoned; for that same person, in painful feeling, both his latent tendency of ignorance and his latent tendency of repulsion have been abandoned there.
