[420] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) arises, did the mind base (manāyatana) arise for that one there?
For those being reborn into the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa), the eye base arises for them there, but the mind base did not arise for them there. For the others, possessed of eyes, who are being reborn, the eye base arises and the mind base arose for them there.
Or, for whomever, wherever, the mind base arose, does the eye base arise for that one there?
For those passing away from five-constituent (pañcavokāra) existence, for those without eyes being reborn into the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for formless (arūpa) beings, the mind base arose for them there, but the eye base does not arise for them there. For those possessed of eyes who are being reborn, the mind base arose and the eye base arises for them there.
