[436] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) does not arise, did the mind-object base (dhammāyatana) not arise for that one there?
For all who are passing away and for the eyeless who are being reborn, the eye base does not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the mind-object base did not arise for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) in the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa), the eye base does not arise for them there and the mind-object base did not arise.
Or alternatively, for whomever, wherever, the mind-object base did not arise, does the eye base not arise for that one there?
For those being reborn into the Pure Abodes, the mind-object base did not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the eye base does not arise for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the Pure Abodes, the mind-object base did not arise for them there and the eye base does not arise.
