[438] For whomever, wherever, the nose sense-base (ghānāyatana) does not arise, has the mind sense-base (manāyatana) never arisen for that one there?
For those passing away from the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), for those without nose (aghānaka) who are being reborn into the sense sphere, for beings of the form sphere (rūpāvacara), and for beings of the formless sphere (arūpāvacara): for them the nose sense-base does not arise there, yet it is not the case that the mind sense-base has never arisen for them there. For beings of the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa) and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta): for them the nose sense-base does not arise there and the mind sense-base has never arisen there.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the mind sense-base has never arisen, does the nose sense-base not arise for that one there?
Yes (āmantā).
